Two very exciting things happened for boosst at the ‘Octo Prog<\/span>Plan Conference 2023′!<\/span><\/h1>\n

What is the Octo ProgPlan Conference?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Recently Tom, Keith and Gabby all attended the Octo Progressive Planners Conference. The event hosted at The Durham Street Auditorium and Vaults is aimed towards financial planners who take a modern approach to their work. The day began with<\/span> a brilliant keynote about shaping the future of wealth – then followed by 8 unique presentations from planners and practitioners who are moulding the future of financial planner with innovative ideas and the guts to push boundaries. Our very own Keith spoke on the main stage and we’ve<\/span> shared more below about his session.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gabby won the ‘Nick Cann Award for Progressive Planning’ \ud83c\udf89<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

Nick Cann MBE was the Chief Executive of the Institute of Financial Planning and drove the early financial planning pioneers forwards with a mixture of personality, humour and professionalism. <\/span>During this period, Nick was delivering a lecture to students in Northampton when he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to hospital – Nick had had a major stroke which left him with severe communications difficulties and initial paralysis down the right side of his body. <\/span><\/p>\n

Although speech was a huge part of Nick\u2019s life and career, he didn\u2019t let it stop him – and he has fundraised tirelessly for the Stroke Association over the years. For his efforts, he received the Life After Stroke award, and was also recognised by HM the Queen. You can read more about Nick\u2019s inspirational story here<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Nick Cann Award is given to someone who is early in their career as a progressive planner, but is already making their mark and helping to educate others. It is not someone who readily shouts about their achievements, but it is someone that believes strongly in what they do and continues doing their best for their clients every single day. <\/span><\/p>\n

There were over 50 nominations this year, and it came as a huge surprise to Gabby when she was announced as the winner! Keith already knew the outcome, as he was talked with making sure she was there in-person – so had done a very good job of keeping this quiet in the run up to the conference! <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So we give Gabby the biggest congratulations and we will continue to support her as she continues her financial planner journey, by helping others and being a truly amazing part of our team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Keith’s interactive presentation:<\/span><\/h3>\n

One of those eight presentations was delivered by our very own Keith, who created an interactive presentation which blew the crowd away. The presentation truly conveyed what we are all about, by allowing everyone in the room a chance to choose what is most important to them by scanning a QR code. Keith had prepared for all 13 possible topics and used his time on stage to discuss the 4 ‘most-voted’ topics – as picked by the audience. When Keith told the rest of our team that he planned to prepare 13 different topics, as well as learning the new software to create his innovative presentation, we were all impressed but unsurprised by his ‘typically Keith’ approach!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keith talked about the service levels we offer to you, our clients, and how we navigate the added complexities of doing so – in a profession where offering a single service is the norm. Some examples of the added complexities being; differing processes, software used for each level, the client facing documents and our fee structures all differ per service. We love being able to serve different client types, and optimising how many clients boosst can help, as it keeps our work interesting and gives you choices for how much help you seek from us. \u00a0He also spoke about how our services are easy to transition between, as and when clients progress through different life stages and need more help from us.<\/span><\/p>\n

Keith later discussed Team development (our bright to boosst development pathways), talking about the importance of ‘Cashflow Planners’, which is a role in our team – that gives a valuable contribution to the business and offers vast opportunities to develop the team members knowledge. This lead to a poll for the audience to better understand how many trainee roles firms are generally creating. Keith as pleased to see many firms creating these development opportunities buts ad to see that the second most common answer was ‘none’!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

‘Client events’ was the next topic chosen by the audience, leading Keith to discuss the importance of our client events and why boosst believe they are a great way to build our client community. Events offer clients the opportunity to meet other likeminded people, meet old friends (as all of our clients are connected somehow!) and give our team the opportunity to mix with all clients, which is much nicer than being hidden behind the financial planner.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The final topic Keith shared was ‘Spend Clients’ Money – How It bought Me a Boat!’. \u00a0The title alone doesn’t tell the full story here – it was a clever play on words to catch out any cynical attendees in the room. Keith actually spoke about how boosst are here to push you to spend your money and live a wonderful life, rather than encouraging you to hoard your money for the future. \u00a0It will be no surprise that ensuring all of our clients are spending their money (unless you don’t have enough yet, of course!) and encouraging you to live your version of a perfect life means that our clients love our work. This means that you share us with your friends, expanding our client community and eventually – after three decades of hard work – \u00a0Keith’s financial success from helping others meant he did buy his boat. In short, as long as you, the client, are getting the best outcome, enjoying life and referring your family, friends and colleagues, to boosst for great financial planning, there will always be new clients for us – meaning we continue to grow, and can have more impact on more lives.
